Research Program

Our lab strives to create an environment where scientific research is conducted in a rigorous and procedural manner.

When renal biocircuits that mediate normal kidney function including iron handling and phosphaturia are perturbed, we may observe a number of disease states such as anemia, hyperphosphatemia or hypophosphatemia. These are among the most prevalent endocrine disorders, that are associated with a wide-range of pathological conditions that affect both lifespan and healthspan. The Agoro lab aims to find mechanistic explanations for how renal iron handling and phosphate-excretion mechanisms are reprogrammed with aging and pathological states by employing a multidisciplinary approach including:

  1. omics technologies (genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics),
  2. systems genetics,
  3. chromatin biochemistry.
